Outdoor Kitchens
We build the whole outdoor kitchen as a masonry structure: block walls faced in real clay brick or natural stone. Every opening is built to the specs of the grill and appliances you pick.

We build custom outdoor fireplaces on site as full masonry, from the concrete under them to the chimney cap. Each one has a concrete block core and a firebox lined with firebrick. The face is real clay brick or natural stone.
Maybe you want a wood fire on the lanai, or a stone fireplace by the pool. We look at the space and any roof overhead, then give you a quote. An outdoor fireplace and an outdoor kitchen built the same way can go up as one project. Call (407) 702-4316.

A masonry fireplace is heavy, so it starts with the concrete under it. For masonry fireplaces, the Florida Building Code calls for a footing at least 12 inches thick. That footing reaches at least 6 inches past the fireplace on every side. The concrete block core goes up on top of it.
The firebox is where the fire burns, so it gets a firebrick lining. Firebrick is made for the heat. Where a masonry firebox is lined with firebrick, the Florida Building Code calls for firebrick at least 2 inches thick. We can lay the back wall in a herringbone pattern, with the firebrick set at angles in a zigzag.
Log-storage niches built into the sides keep split wood stacked beside the fire. Real clay brick or natural stone covers the face and the chimney, and the hearth matches it. The Florida Building Code calls for a concrete, metal or stone cap on a masonry chimney, sloped to shed water. NOAA puts Orlando's normal rainfall at about 51 inches a year, so that slope matters.
We build them under roofs where the local building and fire rules allow it. Under a covered patio, lanai or pavilion, you sit by the fire in the shade and out of the rain. The roof is the builder's work and the builder's permit, and we build the fireplace under it. A freestanding outdoor fireplace works too, out on the patio with open sky above the chimney.
One of our brick outdoor fireplaces sits under a pavilion, with a herringbone firebox and log niches. Another, in natural stone, stands on a covered patio by a lake. We team up with builders on jobs like these, including a recent fireplace under a pavilion another company built.
Under a roof, the chimney has to clear it, and Florida Building Code R1003.9 sets how far. The chimney must stand at least 3 feet above the highest point where it passes through the roof. It must also rise 2 feet higher than any part of a building within 10 feet. Your building department decides how the rule applies to your roof, so plan the height with your builder early. Ask the fire department about wood fires near a building too.
Central Florida is outdoor-living weather most of the year. NOAA's climate normals for Orlando International Airport put the January low at about 50 degrees. Nights at or below freezing average fewer than two a year. Winter evenings are cool enough for a fire and mild enough to sit outside.
We build wood-burning masonry fireplaces, and in Florida the fire goes where the living happens: outside. A fireplace inside the house is the less common request here. We still build masonry fireplaces indoors, usually in a new custom home or an addition, with the builder.
Rules for backyard fires differ by county and city, so ask your local fire department about yours. In Orange County, a burn ban starts on its own when the local drought index reaches 500. That ban lists outdoor fireplaces, and it lifts after seven straight days below 500.

(407) 702-4316From the first call to the finished work, here is how it goes.
Call (407) 702-4316 and tell us what you want built. We set a time to look at the space.
We look at the space with you and talk through the layout. For a kitchen, we note the grill and appliances you want, so the openings fit them.
Then we give you a quote for the work we talked through. It covers the masonry and any concrete under it.
On a kitchen or fireplace, the slab or footing comes first, then the concrete block core. The brick or stone goes on next, and the other trades come in their turn.
Fireplaces get their chimney cap, and kitchen bases are left ready for the countertop. Then we go over the finished work with you.
