Outdoor Kitchens, Fireplaces, Brick and Stone in Clermont

Clermont is a city of hills and lakes, and the city itself calls its hills rare in Florida. Maybe you want an outdoor kitchen on a lanai that looks out over Lake Minneola. Maybe you just moved into a new home south of downtown and want a real brick fireplace out back. Both jobs start on Clermont's sand hills, so the ground matters as much as the view.

We are a masonry company based in St. Cloud, and we work across Greater Orlando and Lake County. We build masonry outdoor kitchens and custom outdoor fireplaces from concrete block faced with real clay brick or natural stone. We come over from St. Cloud by Florida's Turnpike and State Road 50. Call (407) 702-4316, and we will look at the space and give you a quote.

Outdoor kitchens and fireplaces on the Clermont Chain of Lakes

The Clermont Chain of Lakes links Lake Minneola, Lake Minnehaha, Lake Louisa and 12 smaller lakes. The Palatlakaha River connects them, per the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Downtown sits on the south shore of Lake Minneola, with Waterfront Park and the city boat ramp on the water.

If your home faces the water, the lanai or patio is the natural spot for an outdoor kitchen. We build it as a full masonry structure: concrete block on a slab, faced in clay brick or natural stone. Each opening is built to the grill and doors you pick. The floor can be broom-finish concrete or mud-set brick, clay brick set in a mortar bed on a slab.

Under a covered patio or lanai, we build the fireplace. Your builder or licensed contractor handles the permit and the structure. A licensed plumber or gas contractor runs any gas line, and a licensed electrician does the wiring. Before you plan wood fires under a roof, check with your city or county and the fire department.

What do Clermont's sand hills mean for a slab or footing?

Clermont sits near the north end of the Lake Wales Ridge. Per the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the ridge began as ancient beaches and dunes. It runs more than 100 miles south from Lake County. The city says the Citrus Tower, built in 1956, stands on one of the highest hills in Florida's ridge section.

USDA soil maps show about three quarters of the city's land as two deep sands, Candler and Lake. Both are rated excessively drained: rain soaks straight in, and the water table sits more than 80 inches down. The survey rates their gentle slopes not limited for homes without basements. Trench walls in this dry sand are rated unstable, and slope is the limit on the steepest hills.

Sinkholes form where groundwater dissolves limestone under the sand, per the Florida Geological Survey. In September 2026, its public database listed 178 reported subsidence incidents in Lake County. The survey notes most were never field-checked, and some look-alikes come from poorly compacted soil after digging. Point out any low spot in the yard when we look at the space, and we will check the grade.

A growing city around a historic downtown

Clermont dates to 1884 and was incorporated in 1916, per the city. Downtown's Historic Village keeps the Kern House, built around 1885, and the Townsend House from about 1895. The city moved the original 1914 Cooper Memorial Library building there in 2009.

Most homes are much newer: about three in four were built in 2000 or later, per Census estimates. The city grew from 43,021 people in the 2020 Census to an estimated 52,812 in July 2025. Kings Ridge and Legends, two golf course communities, sit inside the city limits east and southeast of downtown. Southeast of town, the city and Lake County are planning Wellness Way, a growth area near Lake Louisa State Park.

The city lists gated golf course communities and larger estate homes among its housing choices. Building a new custom home out here? We work alongside builders on the brick veneer and natural stone columns and entries. For a fireplace inside the house, we build the masonry and your builder handles the permit and the structure.

City of Clermont or Lake County: who issues your permit?

A Clermont mailing address does not always mean the City of Clermont. Census maps show almost all of ZIP 34714 lies outside the city limits. Inside the city, permits go through the city's Building Services at City Hall. Unincorporated addresses go to Lake County's Office of Building Services in Tavares.

Not sure which applies? Lake County says to look up the property on the Lake County Property Appraiser's site. The record's millage group shows unincorporated or names a city. The building department for your address decides what your project needs.

The city lists a Concrete/Driveway/Patio permit for concrete on grade with no footers. Trade work such as gas lines and wiring has its own permit types. The city's permit pages do not name outdoor kitchens or fireplaces, so ask Building Services before work starts. In an HOA, Florida law lets the association's review run alongside the permit.

Clermont FAQ

Questions We Hear Around Clermont

A few of the questions we hear most around Clermont. If yours is not here, call and ask.

Call (407) 702-4316

Is Clermont in your service area?
Yes. We are based in St. Cloud and work across Central Florida within about an hour of Orlando. The city puts Clermont about 20 miles west of Orlando, on the west side of the area we cover. We work inside the city limits and in unincorporated south Lake County.
Can you build a patio or outdoor kitchen on a sloped Clermont lot?
Yes, on a slope the slab under a patio or outdoor kitchen is planned around the grade. The Florida Building Code calls for the ground to fall at least 6 inches within 10 feet of the house. Paving within those 10 feet slopes at least 2 percent away. We check the slope and the drainage when we look at the space.
What drives the price of an outdoor kitchen or fireplace in Clermont?
Size comes first: the counter length of a kitchen, or the height of a fireplace chimney. Real clay brick and natural stone price differently, and the floor under the work adds its own cost. A sloped lot can take more block and concrete to build a level base. We look at the space and give you a quote; call (407) 702-4316.
Can you build an outdoor kitchen or fireplace on a lot on the Chain of Lakes?
Yes. We build outdoor kitchens and fireplaces that face the water. The city notes that FEMA updated the Lake County flood maps in 2012. Florida's 2026 small-job permit exemption does not apply in a flood hazard area, so check your lot's flood zone first.
Do you build brick veneer and fireplaces for new homes in Clermont?
Yes, alongside your builder. Your builder holds the permit and builds the structure. We lay the brick veneer or natural stone and build the masonry fireplace. Call (407) 702-4316 to talk through your plans.
